"I
recently lost my Lurcher due to ill health (part greyhound, not like yours),
at sometime in the near future I wish to get another, as a pet. I cannot
pretend for a minute they I did not love my bitch to death, I'm a total
softy towards her, but miss the total relationship, I had built up with
her. But in her replacement I am looking for certain characteristics, the
main ones being (in a bitch) intelligence, speed (I just love to stand and
admire) and agility. I did not know until I saw your site that an older
breed existed and you have set me wondering if one of these dogs would suit
the bill. Do your people sell the dogs as pets, if so what sort of money
do they fetch, is anyone breeding any in Hampshire or nearby etc. Any info
would be of assistance, thanks for your help." Terry
"Hi Terry - sorry to hear about the loss of your dog I lost my bitch last
autumn and I was absolutely devastated ( still miss her like crazy)- I had
a relationship with her that I could never have with a human being. Dogs
are straight with you; food and love and they love back unconditionally.
Mine was a pet and she was fast and intelligent and absolutely beautiful.
I suggest you speak to our Lurcher expert Jeff and he will be able to advise
you on a suitable pup from our list of recommended breeders. He is a lovely
old man and gave me a new pup who is totally devoted to me and me to him
Jeff is very knowledgeable and is worth contacting " Josie
"I spoke to Jeff today, he tells me that there aren't any bitches about
at the moment but will keep me informed. I want to thank you for going to
the trouble of telling him about me, it made the intro so much easier. Thank
you very much for your help and I will keep you informed on how things go.
best wishes and thanks to both of you." Terry
"Hi Terry - no trouble. The strain are very good so it is worth waiting
for a pup. I assume you have put your name on the waiting list? Best wishes."
Josie
"Jeff said he would put me near the top and has taken my phone number, is
that all I need to do ?" Terry
"Yes that's fine I will email you and or Jeff will call you soon as a suitable
pup comes up. Best wishes." Josie
"So I now have this Lurcher dog installed in the house, his pet name is
Wee, Wee at this time I wonder why? He arrived Sunday afternoon and in 24
hours seems to have settled in quite nicely, he is till unsure of himself
but is glued to my side. Did I know the loo was built for 2? I showed him
how to use the dog flap but he insists on using the cats' even though he
can only get his head and one arm through. But it is very early days and
it appears a new character has arrived in the household. Our best wishes
to you and thanks to Jeff for his help and I will keep in touch." Terry
and Shadow
"Hi Terry - He sounds like he is going to be a proper little character -
send me some photos when you can and I will add them to the web site. Who
was the pup out of? love, light and Lurchers." Josie
"He's out of Crow and Sweep." Terry
"Gorgeous, nice a good match I love Sweep and Crow." Josie
"He's now into his 16th week and is that 'little bundle of mischief!' Great
fun quick to learn, already knows I'm a softy- does not like going outside
the front of the house and hates the car, but all this will change." Terry
"Hi Terry - how is the little terrorist? I love them when they are tiny
- all legs and paws! Ziggy's two companions PJ and Phobie the Parson Jack
Russell's are settling in ( it was supposed to be one Jack but when we saw
the pair we didn't have the heart to separate them - they didn't bark, act
aggressively or any other negative things that terriers are labeled with
- so what could I do!). Best wishes to you, Shadow and your family" Josie
"I've just spent the last two walks stood in amazement. Last week he learnt
to run. Saturday he was chasing another (sort of) Lurcher around the park
and holding his own. Today two dogs chased him, he toyed with them, ran
around and through them, let them catch him almost, then accelerated away
so that they could eat his dust!. And he's only just into his 18th week.
Everyday is like an adventure …." Terry
